In his YouTube video, Alec Watson of Technology Connections, does the maths on solar energy. While petrol is a single-use fuel for driving your car, a solar panel will generate electricity almost for free once the initial investment has been paid off. He also explains why the required area for solar panels is not a valid criticism of the technology by doing the maths on land use for ethanol in the US. He also discusses materials and batteries.

In the final part, Watson turns to US politics, where the topic of climate change is more politicised than anywhere else in the world, and discusses how Democrats have repeatedly pushed for a shift towards a more economically sustainable future.
